Document types and default values
Document title, category, template, and approval workflow suggested by the document type.

You can find document types under Documents → Types. A type helps speed up form completion and can suggest a document title, category, text template, and approval workflow.
When creating a type, use a clear, easily understandable name. Select only those default values that apply to all documents of that type. If you assign approvers or set up a sequential or automatic approval process for the type, test the entire workflow using a sample document.
Changing the type on a new document form may alter the category, title, and list of available text templates. Therefore, after editing a type, close the old form and open a new one.
It is safer to disable a type that is no longer in use. Before deleting it, check whether it is being used in existing documents or text templates.
