Moving Tasks and changing their duration
Consequences of changing dates, duration, the team member responsible, and recurring Tasks.
Last updated 13 days ago
If you have editing permissions for Task, you can drag an incomplete card to a different time. In Day and Week views, drag the edge of the card to change its duration. In Month view, resizing adjusts the date range.
Moving the item changes the actual data for Task. If the new end date is later than the critical date, the system may also move the critical date. Notifications and external calendar synchronizations may also be recalculated. After the action, open Task and check the start date, end date, critical date, and assigned persons.
A completed Task card is not intended to be moved. When multiple overlapping records are combined into a parallel group, the group cannot be dragged as a single record; you must select a specific card first.
In the schedule, moving an item between Staff rows may add a new assigned person or remove the previous one. For a recurring Task item, the system may ask whether to apply the change to future occurrences. Read the prompt and check the next occurrence after saving.
Safe method for making changes
Before dragging, note the original time and the team member responsible. Move one card, wait for the view to refresh, then open Task. This is particularly important if reminders for start, end, or critical dates are used, or if an external calendar is involved.
If the card reverts to its original position, do not attempt to drag it repeatedly; instead, check your editing permissions, verify that Task is not marked as complete, and ensure it is not a card representing a group of overlapping entries. If the wrong team member was modified, restore the responsible parties in the Task card, where the full list is displayed.
